2020, It’s a Wrap

Am I the only one who feels like 2020 lasted for 5 years?

I don’t even recall what we were concerned about prior to March 13th, 2020. Obviously, it wasn’t nearly as important as weathering a pandemic, working from home, learning how to navigate a “new normal”, and a host of other challenges that this year has brought us.

Amid the challenges, we’ve also seen opportunity (see this article for more thoughts). As practitioners, we’ve been forced to explore the new world of Teletherapy. For some offices, Teletherapy has helped reduce the rate of cancellations which is good but also comes with its own set of challenges.

From March through May we all felt the same pain as offices and schools closed down and the uncertainty about our future began to rise. Slowly but surely, I watched a dedicated group of professionals (You all) rise to the challenge and find new and interesting ways to keep treating your patients. You are survivors. This year was an incredible test of willpower and I’m blown away by your flexibility and steadfast devotion to your patients, your team members, and your business.

2021 will surely come with its own set of unique challenges as we await the details of Sunshine/WellCare merger, as we watch a new executive administration assume control at the national level, and as we (hopefully) see an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. We should prepare for the new year now by setting goals for our businesses and taking the time to sit back and ask ourselves “Why am I doing this?” and “Where am I going?”.

Please get some rest this holiday season and from all of us at Extra Mile Billing, thanks. Happy holidays!
